Fall is my favorite time of year, so planning a “fall themed” birthday party for Kate has been lots of fun. Her birthday is still weeks away (daddy will be home in time too:)) but we finished her “happy birfday party cards” this evening. We started working on them with Nana in Ohio. She had lots of fun helping me finish them today.

The inside will read:
Our Little Pumpkin,
Kate,
Is turning 3
Celebrate with us on Oct. 11th at 2pm
and join us for a pumpkin patch party
at our home, ————–
Please RSVP to Lacey ———-

It is so good to know we are very close to being finished with this deployment…we are counting weeks instead of months…

Lying here with you
Listening to the rain
Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I’m alive
These are the moments I’ll remember all my life
I found all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
Looking in your eyes
Seeing all I need
Everything you are is everything to me
These are the moments
I know heaven must exist
These are the moments I know all I need is this
I have all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
Chorus
I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream I have’s come true
And right here in this moment is right where I’m meant to be
Here with you here with me
These are the moments I thank God that I’m alive
These are the moments I’ll remember all my life
I’ve got all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
Chorus
I could not ask for more than the love you give me ‘Coz it’s all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
I could not ask for more

I created this wreath only spending $3.21! I bought two leaf garlands and one spool of ribbon at the dollar store. I simply seperated the leaves from the garland, stuck them in a grapevine wreath I already had and wrapped the ribbon around. Super easy, and very pretty! So, while it is still 90 degrees outside, we’ll “pretend” we are having fall weather

I went for a normal OB check up today, and I’ve only gained 1 pound over the past month!!! Hoorary!!! I was so thrilled. This isn’t something that comes easy, I’ve had to work really hard at my portions, and over all just watching what I eat. The result has been worth it, not only because of the small amount I gained over the last month but because I’ve become so much more aware at what I am eating and what I am preparing for my family. This “watch” over my weight this pregnancy was self-imposed. I’ve gained about 25 pounds total in the past 6 months, so the doctors were not at all concerned, and have even commented that my weight was really good. But, as I learned with Kate, the more you put on, the more there is to take off after the baby. For someone who doesn’t shed pounds super easy, weight loss is something that I have to put effort into. This has been a wonderful experience, I eat so much better than I ever have in my life. Yes, I use to weigh 120 pounds at one point, a very long time ago, which is a fairly small amount for my height, but I wasn’t healthy. I was skinny, but not healthy and there is a difference. I’ve learned so much about how to eat better, how to substitute healthier ingredients into meals into our favorite meals. I’ve added more fruits and veggies, as well as fiber and protein from healthier sources. We’ve added flax seed recently to our diet, Kate drinks it in her smoothies and doesn’t even realize it. I know this will also be helpful after Maddy is born as I won’t have to transition to a diet to lose the baby weight, I can keep eating the foods I have as well as drinking lots of water and see the baby weight shed even if it takes a little while. So, while potty training has not been going well, and there are hurricanes on the front, with God’s help I’ve got to experience my own small victory!

Yesterday, I purchased my new carpet cleaner. I got the one I mentioned in a previous post. I tested it out last night on the play room area rug, the most stained rug in our house. It worked wonderfully, and got all the stains out! The same stains I had tried to srub out by hand. I am very glad I purchased the carpet cleaner and I think it was a very good investment
I don’t have any before pictures to share (trust me, it was dirty!) But, here are a couple after pictures. So, at least we will be riding out the hurricanes with clean carpet!

We also moved the doll cradle, high chair and basket of accessories into Kate’s room. It is much less “cramped” in the play room now, and she can always bring out the doll things if she wants from her room.

We are home again. It is nice to be home…well the hurricanes coming our way are not so nice, but normally it is very nice to be home again. We had a wonderful time visiting our family. There are so many wonderful things about having children, but one of the things I have always enjoyed is watching my daughter interact with our family- grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.
We got everything unpacked and put away last evening, and got up bright and early to be at our first MOPS meeting of this year.
I don’t know how much I will be posting over the next few days with the weather we have coming. But, please pray for us and others as we try to manage things as best we can.

On a side note… When Kate is misbehaving I remind her “Kate you need to obey” At which point she turns to me and says “I don’t want to obey” What am I to do?

Sometimes to get something worth while you need to put effort, or money, into it. Buying a carpet cleaner is not something I would consider with how frugal we are trying to be right now. However, I think with two kids and one on the way, and two large dogs it would be a good investment. We decided to keep the blue area rug that is in Maddy’s room, and for the price of a new area rug I can get this. The play room carpet probably needs cleaned the most. It gets the most wear and tear, and is where Kate and the dogs spend most of their time at home. It is stained and beyond spot cleaning. The other area rugs in our home would really benefit. So, with hubby’s permission, I think we will be making this investment and I think it will really pay in the long run.
